Clearly...It's A Flower!

For those of you wondering, I have not deterred from my path of loving flowers...and making them whenever I can.
So, the theme of the Making Art! Challenge #36 over at the Everything Wendy Vecchi Yahoo! Group for the next week is using Wendy's product - Clearly For Art, a moldable, non-shrinking plastic.  I wanted to try her technique using Glue 'N Seal, Rock Candy Crackle paint and Alcohol Inks.  Scraptime did a video about it at CHA, HERE.

I saw these laser cut wooden flowers in Michael's, for $1.00!  Being the thrifty, cheapskate scavenger that I am, (and did I mention a lover of flowers?), I bought not one, but six of them, knowing I would do something with them...hopefully within my lifetime.

I know, right? A $1.00!

Here's what I did:

Side view, to show how dimensional the CFA can be:

I painted the wooden flower with some black metallic paint, the stem and leaves with Tarnished Brass Crackle paint.  I went over the crackle paint with some metallic mixative AI's, to tone it down a bit.  I then performed the technique Wendy demonstrated on CFA Blackout.  I have found that using the metallic paint dabbers on the Blackout works really well, and dries GREAT!  Some of the pigment inks don't dry quite as well. Consider that your tip of the week. Don't say I never gave you nothin'.
The flowers came with a puny little base, so I had some wooden circles that were bigger, and used it to stabilize the flower.
TA DA! Ok, one down, five more to go...but I'm going to do something different on the rest. Maybe.
Thanks for stopping by, as always, much appreciated!

24 watcha thinkin'?:

Just love the original flower base, but what you've done with this is just wonderful! I hope to get time to join in this challenge!

Wow, what a gorgeous flower this turned out to be. I love the transformation. Who knew it could turn out so scrumtious. I don't think it would have caught my attention in it's raw state, but again WOW!
I don't have a Michael's store here in the UK but I will keep my eyes open for any sad wooden flowers in need of WV style TLC, in garden centre's or "£" shops here. Fingers crossed, I may find similar in them.
Thanks for the inspiration.
