It's a brilliant orb of light that radiates heat, I think in some civilizations they call it "sun".
I haven't seen it for ages around these parts. Now my pupils are dilating trying to keep up.
Ok, let's see, where was I? lol.
The theme for Hels Sunday Stamper is Paris....ooooo....it just so happens that I still had some G45 Transatlantique paper laying around from the SSS project, which is filled with reference to Paris, France, etc. Imagine---paper laying around.....so I came up with this tag, which also gave me an opportunity to use my Sizzix Eiffel Tower die, and the Tag and Bookplate die, love the shape of those bookplates! Here we go:
| Crackle Accents in the bookplate...Fab Flourish stamp used on background! |
Added my fave French saying---actually it's about the only one I remember from French class in high school. The bird and the Fleur de Lis are.... get this.... Friendly plastic I pushed into a mold of Tim's adornments. Looks almost like the real thing, doesn't it? Thanks to my blog friend Alison, for turning me onto that little tidbit of useful info. Friendly plastic can be found at most of the "big box stores". Not Walmart usually...lol...
And on to Tag Tuesday, of which is a two week challenge this round, so I'm actually a little early... lol... the theme is postcard...so here it is...I'm not especially thrilled with it...not sure why, maybe you can tell me...
I had this tag actually left from the cruise, I don't have the embossing folder, although sometimes I wish I did...lol.... so.... I used some Wild Honey Distress Stain, and let me tell you, talk about fast coverage, these babies can do it! I was impressed! Then I used some Walnut Stain (ink pad this time) over the embossed areas and the edges of the tag.
Made a rosette out of some Lost and Found paper, and since the theme was postcard, brilliantly chose to use a postage mark for the center. lol.
Then, I know this is a stretch, but since the theme was Postcard, I thought of travel, which leads to the Gypsy Girl advert there, 'cause, you know, gypsies travel around. lol.
Dunno, I think it's too blah. Maybe more embellishments. I just hated covering up the embossing. That's usually my biggest problem, covering up the base. I'm sure you've noticed that.
And now, a little digression....I was given another award! This time from my newfound blog friend, Candy, over at Creativity is Contagious! Thank you so much Candy! She does simply spectacular art, you should really check it out! It's the Leibster award...and no... I don't know what it means, other than I need to pass it along to at least three other bloggers who inspire me, so I guess that's what it means, people who inspire you.
There are a LOT of blogs/artists that inspire me, I mean, if I miss one day on my Google Reader, I will have about 100 new entries the next day! And other than what I call the "big three", Tim, Wendy and Suze, I really have to think who to bestow this on, because it's so hard to narrow it down...
Hels would be one that really inspires me, especially where using Tim and Wendy stuff is concerned! lol!
My SSS team member Linda C, does some of the most amazing cards I've ever seen....
And Shelly's blog is great for tutorials and trying new things... If it has the word "faux" in it, she's done it! And of course she does wonderful art!
So...I probably named some that have already received the award..if so I apologize, but there you have it!
Don't forget too, about the vintage humor ATC swap I'm hosting, read about it HERE.
Thanks for stopping by today...Go Be Creative!

24 watcha thinkin'?:
Tres chic French tag and love the textures. I've heard of that sun thing. I still think it's a myth.
Tres jolie, mon amie! "Sun"? je ne comprends....ok, stumped!! Was never very good at writing French, can remember more but... anyhow my school days are WAY too far behind me, lol.
Your first tage espesh, is gorgeous - so's the second, don't know why you don't like it - stunning colours on your rosette!
This is marvelous - so rich and beautiful. What a great idea for using the friendly plastic, they do look like the real thing. I always love to come over and see what you've made, I'm blown away by the intricate touches you add that make your projects so inspiring and delightful!
(glad to know you have overcome the shock at that flaming orb in the sky, hope your pupils return to normal) ;-)
Oh, and in my longwindedness I didn't even say how much I loved your tag with the rosette! it's loverly and since it is postcard related why don't you hop on over to OG and link it??? ;-)
These are *both* gorgeous! The layering on your first one is exquisite, and I love the embossed background on the second (and the Buffalo postmark - DH's hometown). No need to cover any thing up or change a thing. Lovin' the rich colors in them both. And yikes!.... I didn't know there was such a thing as an Eiffel tower die (I've been under a rock, apparently).... gotta have it!
Hey, I was just admiring your tag and was shocked to see my name, lol! You are too sweet! Love the way you described me...I do love my faux. :-)
You are incredibly inspiring as well - I need to add your blog to my sidebar so I can keep tabs on what you're up to more often!
Oh, and your tags are fantastic! I love the Eiffel Tower piece and - weird thing - I recently made a birthday card that looks eerily similar to the flower tag. Great minds! ;-)
Fabulous tags Lori, love the co,ours on the Paris one and fabulous texture. I love the Rosette as a flower. Both very creative. Tracy x
Both fabby tags Lori, I love the way you have collaged them and that flower is a total stunner, brill work. Annette x
oooh gorgeousness abounds!!! Thanks for joining in with the Sunday sTamper... oh and please send that sun this way when you have warmed your bones, could do with some of it ROFL xx
Ouuu! Friendly Plastic embellishments! LOVE this idea which I'll be thieving away in short order!
Both tags are gorgeous, by the way, and I don't think the embossed tag needs more. It looks clean and finished (OK, OK, grungy and finished). :)
Awesome tags, Lori, but every time I come here you're introducing me to a new technique that I just gotta learn about - now it's friendly plastic - i'm running to keep up with you - LOL!! Anyway, I really love your Paris tag- gorgeous color and texture!
I'm so honored that that you would pass an award on to me, especially the company you've put me with - Hels and Shelly - OMG! Thank you so much!
Hugs,
Linda
I like both your tags, Lori. That Paris one is stunning. And I think the embossed Postcard is great, can see why you don't want to cover that up.
(The sun is a welcome sight, for sure!)
Love your colors and the details. I have a stash of friendly plastic, I'll have to try your technique!
I can see you are keeping busy Lori! Thanks for all your kind comments of late on my blog.
Love your tags! Very artsy!! :)
Both are wonderful, but that Paris tag in particular really spoke to me. I think it said, "get out of the Bronx and go to Paris."
As for that golden orb....it does exist....I saw it last week....just not in the US.
And, lastly, PLEASE send more info re: friendly plastic. There is something I don't own or know about????? Blasphemy!
LOL I often have trouble covering up backgrounds I like too. It could be all you would need is maybe some dots or dashes around the top left corner and down the left side or maybe to stamp a small flourish or flower design in that open area at the top left corner. But otherwise the tag is wonderful - very cool with the postmark flower center!!! and I love the Paris tag!!!
Both of them are beautiful don't need anything they are perfect. Marie
Great tags - you're always on top of things with your ideas! How about something along the left side of the 2nd tag?
You're too funny! I heard there was a sun sighting here recently too, but I've been so busy working in the classroom I never noticed!
Beautiful art GF, 2 great tags today!
"Oh, Morticia, you spoke French!" I love when people use French expressions, just love it. Well, I am a bit partial to the language. Anywho, I am blown away by your tags - they are merveilleuses, fabuleuses and much more. And being from Buffalo, I am overjoyed to see that uber cool postage circle! Hugs. Moi
PS could you tell me more about friendly plastic? sounds cool
WTF? YOU'VE got the sun? Give it back!!!
I love the colours in the rosette and is that a real stem?
Love those tags.
Wishes
