Over at the Order of the Opus Gluei this week, the theme is POSTCARD. I took them literally on this one, and made a couple of postcards using Tim's Retro Grunge paper and the Artful Artifacts stamp set.
I kinda like how the rays on the paper on the left are shootin' out of his head, and how the circle on the paper on the right just hits him right at the cheekbone. Totally unplanned. I masked the face and the stars before stamping the city skyline. And I have to tell you, this is the FIRST time I've used that face stamp (I think it's called David). I never knew what to do with it. lol. So I avoided it.
The sentiments are Tim's too, (I know, contain your surprise), mounted in my new favorite bookplate from the tag and bookplate die. I just cut off the little holder tabs on the sides.
The dots are Viva Pearl Pen in Chrome Silver. Can you believe it.. a color called CHROME Silver. Had to have it, if just for the name. LOVE these Pearl Pens. So easy, and they don't clog.
Ok, and over at the second to last CCC, the theme is Dimensional Collage Fragment. Here's one that I'm not real happy with, but, some days you have that.
I wasn't real keen on the way the collaged fragment came out, so I put some rub-ons on the top. I guess it's ok. I used the question mark from the stencil letters, figured I wouldn't be using it anywhere else..lol... the flourishes are painted with Pewter Crackle paint. The flowers were just white, so I treated them with Blue Smoke Perfect Pearls spray.
Alrighty then, another two challenges down, and a couple more to do this week.... hopefully before the weekend....guess I better Go Be Creative! Oh, and a reminder, you can still email me if you want to participate in my "vintage humor" ATC swap, read about it HERE. Come on, it's only 3 ATC's!Thanks for stopping by!

24 watcha thinkin'?:
Hi Lori!!!
So I'm checking out your first samples and your right it looks like the rays are coming out of well...his nose. LOL maybe he just sneezed. LOL. Very creative!!!
I like how your fragment came out, cool background and love the florishes and flowers!!!

Wow! those postcards are fabulous. I had always been put off that stamp set by how big the face was but seeing what you did with it is changing my mind.
Love your piece for the challenge this week, sometimes we are our own worst critic.
I think your collage fragment looks great! And so does your postcards!!
Pam
I don't know how you keep up with all of these challenges and manage to keep each one original and full of detail!
Lori your postcards are amazing! I'm looking at the circle on his cheek and it's taking me a while to just process what I'm seeing... so flipping cool! And I like your fragment. I know what you mean about not always liking the end result but I think this one is great with all the layers.
Fantastic, I've not used the papers or the David stamp, thanks for showing I know have some inspiration. xx
I have always fought shy of buying David - think it's because that was my ex husband's name.... but I love what you've done with your postcards, and I love your fragment!!
Trying to find some vintage humour so I can join yur atc swap.....
Oh so loving those fab postcards and love how the bookplate you've used turns out, brilliant. Great collaged fragment as well Lori. Annette x
You don't like this! I think they turned out great. Got a new computer for myself today and it's so smokin' fast I can't believe it! Don't know how to use most of it but getting strted now.
Y,know. I was thinkin about inkin so I came over here instead. I'm so glad I did. LOVE the tiny flowers!
Love those postcards and the CCC piece ain't too shabby either.
I love the David stamp and don't use it enough. It's his eye....so intense, serious, and yes, a bit scary. Just plain cool.

Oh, so THAT'S what a real artistic postcard that could be mailed looks like? (LOL, I tried, I tried) You and Jana have a gift, both of you have beautiful, artistic cards that could go through the mail. Mine? Not so much.
I love the techniques you used and the effects. That David stamp works wonderfully with this and I really like how the rays appear to emanate from him (intentional or not, really cool).
So glad you've discovered this Tim guy, isn't his stuff nice? LOL
Thank you so much for taking on our OG challenges, we love when you come over to play!
I love your postcards. I think it looks like he is shouting that little quote. At first it looked like it was coming from his nose, but I knew that couldn't be right. So I looked again, and yup, he's shouting. LOL Your CCC is gorgeous too. Thanks so much for playing with us "special" folks at OPUS GLUEI.
I can imagine your excitement for a CHROME silver pen. Makes me giddy too.
Lori...half the time, you don't like your work and the rest of us think it is amazing! :) I love your postcards. They are really cool!
Love your postcards Lori!! I don't have that stamp but it really is a cool one!! And your fragment piece turned out awesome!!
Great fragments love your sample.
great piece for the CC challenge I cant see anything wrong with it! I found I would do things differently next time. Love the retro postcards such fun.
I think your Fragment looks brilliant Lori! The rub ons are a great idea! Love your postcards too, wasn't sure about the retro grunge papers, but they are growing on me now! Lol! That sounds like they're sprouting outta my head! :o) xx
Every little things she does is magic, magic, magic ;-)
Hugs
Wow, both projects turned out just beautifully! Really want that David stamp set already!! And your dimensional fragment is just fab!!

I like the rays coming out of David's head and the circles on his cheeks--so clever! Haven't tried the fragment technique for this week but you're too hard on yourself--another fabby piece.
