I have to admit, I'm not a lovey dovey person.  I know, I can see you rolling your eyes out there, like that's not really a big surprise, right? lol
I'm also not very much of a pink person.  What I'm really trying to tell you in a long winded way, is that I really had to bring out my inner girlie girl to make this project, lol.  It was a struggle, I'll admit, but I thought I did pretty good, if I do say so myself, working outside my normal box.  Geez, I'm almost tempted to paint my toenails or something...
I ended up making an easel card, which as it turns out, will also be Dewbird's Valentine card.  Shhh, he doesn't know....Here we go:

The base red paper is the backside of some paper from the Seasonal Paper Pack.  As is the paper attached to the chipboard heart, which I cut with a Sizzix die.  I slathered some Rock Candy Stickles on the heart.
The "I Love You" is from the Seasonal Salvage Stickers, which so lovingly coordinates with the Seasonal paper, gotta love that.  I ran some of the Core'dinations Whitewashed paper through the Cuttlebug Birds and Swirls Folder, sanded and lightly inked over the raised areas with Fired Brick Distress Ink.  I edged a little bit with Tea Dye Distress Ink.  I had some vintage pink rick rack that I adhered behind the embossed cardstock.
I thought I would get a little Lisa Pace-ish, and create a three layer rosette from vintage crepe paper, edged with Platinum stickles.  I think Lisa would be proud.. lol.. she would probably also like the tulle I tied around the embossed cardstock.
For embellishments, I attached a Charm Clip to the heart, then attached  a Bauble, a Maya Road Chandelier piece, and a pink blingie thing I had.  I used a Maya Road Star Trinket Pin behind the crepe paper rosette, upper left.

This week, our wonderful sponsors at Simon Says Stamp are giving away a $50 voucher!  Just think of all the great stuff you can order with THAT! lol!  So, be sure to create something and enter it for a chance to win!

You did a great job. For someone who isn't real "girlie" you really got your point across with this.

Oh my! You've gone all pink on us Lori! This really is a stunning card! Dewbird's gonna love it! So, what colour are your toenails?! xx

I don't know, Lori, I think you're getting pretty close to my province here. It looks pretty girlie to me, what with the tulle, the ruffles and the beads. I'm not sure it's the right Valentine for the DH - he'll be expecting you to paint your toenails! But it's definitely a slam-dunk in my book!

Well, it really looks like your overcame your aversion and did a marvelous job chanelling the pink and girly aspects!

I know it is tough working with pink but sometimes we have to hitch up our knickers and just do it! You did a great job...grungy enough to tone down the girliness. Your tough guy will melt when he sees it.

Beautiful card! someday will have to learn how to make one of those cards that stand up. Are there directions on the web somewhere? No I don't see you as a pink type of girl unless we are talking Pink the rocker girl. LOL

I agree, this is definitely not you! LOL But you did a great job and went well outside your comfort zone.

Well, it IS pink and I suppose it IS a bit girly, but it has a definite Lori-ish edge to it, so I think it's safe to say you haven't gone over to the light (i.e., PINK) side.
I really do like it a lot, and you know what? My current obsession with easel cards was sparked by the two you sent me last year. So, thank you for that. And you know what's really cool? An ATC sized easel card. That's what.
Just thought you should know that.
