..a girl's best friend. The fabric part would probably apply more... to, say... a quilter. I for one, appreciate stainless steel. lol.
WARNING - digression....For Christmas Dewbird bought me a new set of stainless step bars for my truck, which I should really take a picture of, just so you can see how cool they are. Along with the stainless brush guard that I purchased, because, well...it was meant to be.
I walked in the shop to pick out my step bars (aka nerf bars), when I spied this really, really cool brush guard. I nonchalantly asked the salesman how much those are, out of curiosity. I've always wanted one.
He says, "Well, that one there would be a great deal because some guy ordered it and hasn't picked it up in six months, so I would sell that at cost just to move it."
I say, "Really, what truck does it fit?" (fingers crossed)
He says, "2004 Chevy Silverado"
I say, "NO WAY!" (That just happens to be my year and model)
For some reason he asks, "Why do you want one?" (like women aren't supposed to want brush guards, I guess. I didn't mention that I may be purchasing a gun rack later.)
I say, deadpan look on my face, "To ram people in the Walmart parking lot who drive like idiots and irritate me".
After he recovers and removes the shocked look off his face, he starts laughing. (Little did he know that I was partly serious. Did you see the movie Fried Green Tomatoes? "TOWANDA"!!! lol! I loved that part)
So, any who, that's how I came to buy the brush guard. Forsaking all hopes of buying new stash from the upcoming CHA releases. lol.
The theme of Hels Sunday Stamper challenge this week is Diamonds.
And the theme for Louise's Tag Tuesday Challenge is .. Fabric.
I'm getting pretty good at the two-fer challenges, I can really see why people do that.. lol.
Here we go:
For the diamonds part, I used one of my favorite background stamps, Tim's grungey Harlequin stamp, which I inked with Tea Dye distress ink and used Ranger's Antiquities Rust embossing powder on. The background of the tag itself is the infamous wrinkle free distress tech using Fired Brick, Aged Mahogany and Tea Dye.
The fabric is a piece of old muslin that is worn so thin you can almost see the background thru it! I did age it a little more with some Tea Dye ink and water. Then stamped Tim's sentiment with Adirondack Black Pigment ink, heat set. I sewed the label to the tag, must have shifted a bit, I see it's a little wonky. I'm calling it "character". lol
The flourishes are cut from white matboard with a Sizzix flourish, painted with Espresso paint, then swiped with White paint to give it that shabby look. The rose is grungepaper, and is one I had from a swap a while ago.
A little Idea-ology on the ribbon at the top, and a little lace at the bottom, Viola!
Thanks for stopping and reading my blithering, much appreciated!

31 watcha thinkin'?:
Your story is exactly why I should never own a big truck or, for that matter, a really fast sports car. Running people down might just become a way of life. ho ho. :)
My old, slow Rodeo keeps me slow ... and becoming older, unfortunately.
Anyhow, your tag is gorgeous, so your big ol' stainless brush guard must be very, very inspiring!
I find it so hard to believe such a sweet and delicate lady as yourself would even think such things............lol Brill.
Loving your tag, such great details. Annette x
Can I ride with you when you go out rammin'? Or, may I drive?!?!? :o) No, wait! May I drive Dew's truck??? Pretty please?
Wonderful tag!
Lots of fun "stuff" on your tag! Wonky is good and "in".
I realize now I must be careful what I say to you in the comments, but I don't think you live close to me!!!
Awesome tag Lori.
great tag! keep on truckin' !!!
I really can't see you forsaking all the new CHA releases! I predict some ramming! Lol!
Great blithering & a fabulous tag to boot Lori! xx
I can see you ramming cars in the carpark, personally! I don't drive and I am with you!!!!
I love this tag, lthe fabric touches are just perfect, much like your "blithering" - keep it up, I love it!
hahahahahah You sound just like my hubby! Brush guards, big old truck, so whats on your list for Valentines day, I bet a big shiny
roll bar! LOL
Great tag Lori and even better story!
Love our tag! I laughed when I read about your truck and how the salesperson reacted...so typical, but I bet he will remember you!
Looking forward to your next post!
Diann
Love this TAG!!!!
It's a good job I don't own a big truck with red hair too, they would not mix well LOL. Love the tag, great background and lovely use of fabric. Tracy Evans x
LOVE IT, IT IS BEAUTIFUL
Ooh this is LUSH Lori, thanks for joining in with the sunday STamper x
I don't really know what a brush guard is, but if it does what you say, I could use one for my Walmart parking lot, too! How do you think it would look on a sedan?? ;*)
Nice tag!
You mean I don't have to get a stepladder any more to get in your truck!?!?! Cool! LOL Ah, your Walmart parking lot is worse than many I've been in so I'm with you on making them move..even if it's the hard way. Just watch out for my folks! LOL Seriously, love the twofer tag!
Love the tag but I love the story even more! I was on the Vera Bradley web site and reading a review of a purse and someone recommended one because of the pockets in front are perfect for a concealed handgun. Now of course they live in Texas where that stuff is perfectly legal ya know. But that may go with the gun rack!
Your flower is lovely Lori!
Hilarious story, morning glory. These poor men, they just can't fathom a woman with intelligence, purpose and determination! Little did they know they were dealing with the creative and shrewd Lori!
Your tag is beautiful and your story is hilarious! TOWANDA!
"Face it girls, I'm older and have more insurance!" :-)
Love your tag. Very creative. Your stamping is so beautiful. Blessings. Debbie

Wow, little lady, I'll be watching out if I ever come into your parts:)LOL
I love the little scrap of muslin you chose for this tag. Stamping your quote on it was a great idea!
Great tag and great colours and elements
ROFPMSL... and there was I thinking you were a sweet shy gal.... you'll be ramraiding next ha ha ha ha.
Oh I've missed your fab sense of humour missus... sorry not been by for a while, have bitten off more than I can chew already this year with courses and DT stuff and I'm jumping from one thing to another like a squirrel searching for nuts!!
Thanks for your wonderful comments though they mean the world to me :D
